Sunday, 24 September 2017

Thank you so much to everyone who has been involved with this BLOGGER POWR series. We are really enjoying sharing the interviews and hope you are loving reading them too!

Today, we are joined by the lovely Alice over at https://theblissfullife.wordpress.com. Hope you enjoy!

Blogging and me!

- How would you describe your blog in a few words?
Hi! My blog is mainly a lifestyle blog with the occasional fashion post.

- Which blogpost, that you have uploaded, is your favourite?
I enjoyed writing about my 23rd birthday as it was such a brilliant day.

- How long have you been blogging?
Its been just over a year and a half now! Crazy how time flies.

- What's your favourite part of blogging?
Definitely the best part is being able to look back on the blog and see what a was doing a particular weekend. My blog is almost like a diary I suppose so when I look back I am reminded of things which I had forgotten. Always nice being reminded of good memories.

- What is your blogging method? (E.g. do you take photos before writing up your post?)
I decide what my blog post will be about and then I will make photos before I write the post. I just find that once you get into a flow of writing, it’s easier to insert the pictures as you go.

- What advice do you give to new bloggers to stand out in the crowd?
Its really difficult being noticed because there are so many bloggers out there. I think that firstly you need to write about what you want to write about and that you enjoy writing about. Secondly having a social media presence is important to get people noticing you.

- What are your favourite blog posts to create?
I love writing my book list posts because I love nothing more than going into a book shop or the library and searching for a new book then coming home and delving right in.

About me:

- What is your favourite thing to do to relax?
I love love love sitting in front of the telly and doing a crossword (I know I’m such a granny). Three things I couldn’t live without are tea, my dog and a bath!

- Name 3 things you couldn't live without!
Three things I couldn’t live without are tea, my dog and a bath!

- Do you have any bad habits?
I bite my nails and I hate it!

- What has been your proudest moment so far?
Graduating uni and getting into my masters.

- What do you like to do in your spare time?
Meeting up with friends, watching a TV series (currently rewatching The O.C.) and going out for brunch.

- What are your future aspirations in life?
I would love to be able to work as a full time blogger and collaborate with brands that I love. However I think thats a long way off yet!

- Name three things that never fail to make you smile.
my boyfriend Cameron, baking cookies and eating them straight out the oven and lazy sunday mornings

- Confession time! What is your most embarrassing moment?
I don’t even know where to start with this one! I have so many to choose from. I had to get my foot cut out of a shoe I was trying on in Topshop because the zip broke! I was on my own and people were trying to help me yank it off my foot before the sales assistant just had to get a air of scissors and chop it off!

Thanks so much Alice for getting involved with today's BLOGGER POWR! We really enjoyed reading your answers and congratulations for getting into your masters! Make sure you all give her a follow on Twitter

Until next time,

                                      BLOGGER POWR : Sophie

                                      Sunday, 17 September 2017

Guess what time it is!?! That's right, it's BLOGGER POWR time again! In today's post we are speaking with the lovely Sophie at soinspo.com about all things fashion and fun! Make sure you check out her blog after reading this interview!

                                      Blogging and me:

Hello! How would you describe your blog in a few words?

soinspo is a fashion blog with a firm focus on bright summery outfits that were made for the beach! I often incorporate sequins, glitter and fun loving photoshoots into the stylish, sassy mix too! My blog is firmly focused on fashion but I also speak out about topics such as anxiety, self-improvement, positivity whilst covering areas such as travel, beauty, and fiction. Often I write short stories for my blog which are spin-off segments from my first novel which I'm currently writing.

Which blogpost that you have uploaded is your favourite?

Ahh that's so difficult! So many of them are special to me for so many reasons. I'd have to go for my 'WYLDR NYE party ootd look', it felt like a turning point for me and the blog. My outfit was full of sparkle and glitter and I made some resolutions whilst putting together the blog post to seek out better locations for future outfits as sparkly as that which fortunately I carried out the year after and have been doing so since!

How long have you been blogging?

I've been blogging since May 2013.

What's your favourite part of blogging?

Connecting with so many amazing, supportive bloggers full of talent that ordinarily I never would have met in real life. I also love that I can be creative and innovative and use my imagination and daydreams and make them into a full blown reality on my blog. It's always exciting coming up with fresh and new ideas and the brilliant thing about having a blog is there are no limitations. The sky ain't even the limit!

                                      What is your blogging method?

I always take and edit the pictures first and then write the blog post up.

What advice do you give to new bloggers to stand out in the crowd?

Be yourself, don't worry about what everyone else is doing. Find like minded bloggers to connect with. Put yourself out there and don't be disheartened if it feels like you're not getting instant results, it takes time but you'll get there. Find your own voice and style and you'll dazzle. Believe in yourself and you've got it!

What are your favourite blog posts to create?

Fashion posts that we've shot in a really fun location. I always like to try and think outside of the box and find unique ideas for style shoots.

                                      About me:

How would you describe yourself in three words?

                                      Beachy, uplifting and bright.

What is your favourite thing to do to relax?

A good cocktail is definitely my favourite way to unwind and relax, I'm talking about a frothy, tropical piña colada or a minty mojito.

Name three things you couldn't live without?

Those closest to me, writing, blogging.

Do you have any bad habits?

I overthink too much! Thankfully I seem to be getting better.

What has been your proudest moment so far?

I conquered my fear of flying and travelled to New York and LA on my own. I don't think I'd do it again as I didn't enjoy travelling solo but at the time it just felt unreal that I managed to bite the bullet and go for it, especially when I was absolutely terrified.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love to read, to online shop, to go for a good cocktail, to be by the beach, the sea....

What are your future aspirations in life?

To get my first novel published and out into the world. I'd like to start a Youtube channel and to make blogging/Youtube or something similar in the creative field my full time career alongside writing more books in the future. Owning my own home with my partner is a massive one too. I would love to move abroad as well, somewhere sunny of course!

Name three things that never fail to make you smile.

My boyfriend and his lovely cats Muffin and Bamf!

Confession time! What is your most embarrassing moment?

Oh God, I'm sure there's been a million of them! I remember calling out to someone the other day who didn't hear me and walked off. A load of people looked my way, that was pretty awkward.

Thanks so much Sophie for getting involved with today's BLOGGER POWR! Make sure you all give her a little follow on Twitter at @sophie_sierra

                                      BLOGGER POWR : Rachel

                                      Tuesday, 12 September 2017

It's time for another BLOGGER POWR post! Today we are speaking with the lovely Rachel at https://seaminglynormal.wordpress.com. Hope you enjoy the interview as much as we did!

                                      - How would you describe your blog in a few words?
                                        Sewing, creating and fun!

                                        - Which blogpost, that you have uploaded, is your favourite?

I think my favourite post was my outfit of the day for my job interview, I felt confident and was really happy to blog about my outfit which I had made most of myself.

                                          - How long have you been blogging?

I have only been blogging for two months, I am very new to it but enjoying it!

                                            - What's your favourite part of blogging?

I think the best part of blogging is being able to talk about what we love and interact with others who feel the same or conversations about why we don't agree.

                                              - What is your blogging method? (E.g. do you take photos before writing up your post?)

I am a note taker, I have a notebook and will write my ideas for posts and what I want to say, then get photos as soon as I know what I want photos of.

                                                - What advice do you give to new bloggers to stand out in the crowd?

Be yourself, your opinion is what makes you interesting, not following everyone else.

                                                  - What are your favourite blog posts to create?

I love a post about my outfits, I sew a lot of my own clothes and it feels great to combine what I make with makeup, shoes, and accessories and show others

                                                    About me:

                                                    - How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

                                                      nerdy, enthusiastic and busy

                                                      - What is your favourite thing to do to relax?

Netflix and cuddling my two dogs

                                                      - Name 3 things you couldn't live without!
                                                      Dogs, sewing machine, fabric

                                                      - Do you have any bad habits?
Rushing jobs when I get excited

                                                      - What has been your proudest moment so far?
Being at my BA Degree Graduation back in January

                                                      - What do you like to do in your spare time?
Sew, I make dresses for myself and take commissions

                                                      - What are your future aspirations in life?
Use my Masters in Graphic Design and do what I love

                                                      - Name three things that never fail to make you smile.
                                                      Dogs, boyfriend and my mum

                                                      - Confession time! What is your most embarrassing moment?
Farting in front of my boyfriend for the first time and crying with laughter for half an hour after

We want to give another big thank you to the lovely Rachel for getting involved with this weeks BLOGGER POWR. Make sure you give her a little follow over on Twitter at @seaminglynormal.

                                                      Until next time,

                                                      BLOGGER POWR : Anxiously, me

                                                      Sunday, 10 September 2017

Another chat day, another BLOGGER POWR post! Today we are joined by the lovely lady behind the blog http://anxiously-me.blogspot.co.uk. Hope you enjoy reading the answers to the questions!

                                                      Blogging and me!

                                                      - How would you describe your blog in a few words?
Hi there! I would describe my blog as a place where those with mental health issues can come to without fear of judgement and find posts that really relate to them.

                                                      - Which blogpost, that you have uploaded, is your favourite?
I think it would have to be the Self-Care Q&A that I created. I devised a survey of ten questions to ask my followers as a way of interacting with/making new blogger friends and to find out how they practice self-care as I find it’s necessary to look after yourself - particularly when mental health issues are getting in the way.

                                                      - How long have you been blogging?
I had the first version of this blog for 7 years (according to Tumblr where it started) but I’ve had different blogs over the last 13 years or so. I hadn’t really posted on the Tumblr account in years, though, so I decided to move to Blogger and have been here since April of this year (2017). I’ve only recently started updating it regularly (since the end of June), though.

                                                      - What's your favourite part of blogging?
It has to be making new friends. I’ve made so many in the short time that I created my Twitter account for it (April 2017) and everyone has been really supportive.

                                                      - What is your blogging method? (E.g. do you take photos before writing up your post?)
I don’t have many images on my blog as I blog anonymously so someone might recognise any pictures I take at home/in my village and that would detract from it being anonymous. I like to do polls on Twitter to see what my friends/followers want me to write about and I always write down ideas/plans for blogs in my notebook.

                                                      - What advice do you give to new bloggers to stand out in the crowd?
Find out what is unique about your blog and stick with it. If it changes over time, that’s fine, but really stick with the phrase “what can I offer that isn’t already out there?” Don’t be a carbon copy of another blogger/blog; post original ideas and really listen to what your followers want to see/ get from blog posts as they are the ones who will drive up your views. Speak to established bloggers and ask for their advice. Also; don’t get into blogging just for freebies or to become popular. It takes real work and dedication; nothing comes for free.

                                                      - What are your favourite blog posts to create?
I like posting the responses to my self-care q&a and I really enjoy sharing my experiences to do with having severe anxiety, depression & the other traits that come with them (OCD, agoraphobia etc) as I’ve been told that they have helped my friends/followers not feel so alone. Posts like the latter really just flow out of my finger tips.

                                                      About me:

                                                      - How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
I would describe myself as caring, empathetic and sincere.

                                                      - What is your favourite thing to do to relax?
I like to just chill out with some YouTube videos, listen to music or read. I love to sing too.

                                                      - Name 3 things you couldn't live without!
As cheesy as it sounds; I couldn’t live without my parents. They have supported me throughout my whole diagnosis stage and have really been instrumental in helping me to feel safe when anxiety leaves me unable to feel so. I also couldn’t live without my iPod (major panic the other day when I needed it as a distraction technique and it wouldn’t work!) and the ability to read/write as it keeps me sane.

                                                      - Do you have any bad habits?
I could be seen as some as being pessimistic but I like to say I’m a realist (I guess anxiety & depression are good for something). That leaves me being unable to say “yes” to a lot of opportunities so the bad habit lies in me letting myself miss out. I’m a perfectionist which is just a recipe for disaster. I bite my nails when I’m anxious and I bounce my foot/knee a lot (anxiety trait) which not only annoys others but annoys me too.

                                                      - What has been your proudest moment so far?
It has to be the response I had from those who wanted to take part in my q & a. It’s such a foreign concept to me to have people who want to interact and be a part of something I have created, and the sheer volume of people wanting to take part really blew me away.

                                                      - What do you like to do in your spare time?
As I said previously, I like to chill out with some YouTube time and I like to learn songs in different languages. I write a lot for my blog but I also enjoy writing fictional stories which I publish online on a site completely unrelated to my blog.

                                                      - What are your future aspirations in life?
Honestly? I just want to get to the point where I like myself and don’t feel guilty for having illnesses that make me unable to get a job so I can be a “functioning and contributing part of society”. It would also be really nice to be a published author and to see my books in shops. I also want to be a guest on a couple of podcasts that I frequently listen to.

                                                      - Name three things that never fail to make you smile.
We have family friends who have a young daughter and her smile/laugh is so infectious that you can’t help but feel happy when you interact with her/see her learning how to do things we take for granted like being able to walk. My brother’s girlfriend has a cat that I got rather attached to when they used to live with us and he’s always up for a cuddle/headbutts when I’m feeling down. Again, good music/YouTube content makes me smile too.

                                                      - Confession time! What is your most embarrassing moment?
Where do I begin? I've had the usual "waving-to-someone-who-was-waving-at-someone-behind-me" kind of embarrassment but one incident that really sticks out, and I've never told anyone this before, involves riding a bike and wearing a skirt. I think you can guess where I'm going with this one! Not only did it remove said skirt but it also may have taken my underwear with it...Thankfully no one else was around in the street but there were plenty of open windows with the curtain open so who knows who saw!

We want to give a big thanks for 'Anxiously, me' getting involved with today's interview. We loved reading her answers! Make sure you give her a follow on Twitter to stay up to date with her brilliant blog full of advice and tips for dealing with anxiety. Please show her some love, its a brilliant thing she is doing!
